FA Contract

On MFN-8 I can not offer a contract higher then the highest bidder for a contract never mind even matching it. How come all teams cant send in the same amount for a contract if your still well under the cap. Doesnt seem like fair to restrict teams of this. My max still puts me Millions shorter then other bids.

Are you not able to even if you manually enter the numbers in the table? Do you get a message back, and if so what is it?

I have tried different things but it keeps coming back saying I cant exceed a certain amount on first year and then if i adjust it back to that i get a message saying I cant exceed more then 75% bonus and then it resets and starts all over again.

Each year's offer can't exceed 10% of the cap and the bonus can't exceed 75% of the first year, but everyone has the same rules. The cap increases 5% per year. But everyone has the same restrictions, so you should be able to match any offer on the table.

Note that the player will take the offer with the highest bonus but you don't know what the other offers' bonuses are. Also note that the "highest offer" column in the offer page doesn't update between sims, so you won't be able to change what's displayed there.

Yeah, my team is a mess.

I took over this team after the draft, and when I go to sign contracts, all I see is "This may cause you to put your team over the Salary Cap"

And, I too can't seem to hang onto or bid for Free Agents. How come the winning bids are sooo **** high?????

It's ridiculous!!!

You can still make the offer, but you'll have to make other adjustments to get under the cap. You have until training camp to get it all in order.

When a team gets into a cap mess, it may take a season or two to get out of it. It shouldn't take longer than that, though.

I have tried everything and I cant go higher then my current offer which is still 6 million short of highest offer. My current offer I previously made that is shown is the max it allows me to offer for that player.

If you reduce the bonus, you can get a bigger total because the base salary increases each year, but the bonus does not. Try building an offer with the minimum bonus allowed, you'll see you can at least match if not exceed the top offer.

BUT - the player will sign for the highest bonus, so just because someone has the offer with the most money that doesn't mean that the player will sign for that offer.

Well, this explains my unsuccessful free agency. Still rocking this learning curve :)
