Convince Me Why I Shouldn't Quit

This game has become absolutely no fun in v.4. Let me explain.

Since short passing has been hammered by the code changes, there is one and only one way to run an offense now. It starts with finding a playbook that has a few select plays - Post Flags, Short Attack, and the HB Counter Weak. And ends with watching your QB throw the ball into triple coverage while ignoring the open, underneath WR. This is perfectly fine because your WR is usually going to win even though he'll likely drop every ball when he's wide open or your QB will "throw behind him". Far from getting rid of the "Infinity System", the code changes have made running it an absolute necessity.

This means there is really no space for players like me anymore who like to create a run and shoot system. The number of interceptions and lousy completion percentage in the short game mean that there is no reason to run it.

I'm struggling to find any reason to stay.

Fine if no one else wants to convince you to stay i guess i will have to do it.

I like to think it is much easier for someone to just give up when they see no alterantive to playing this game because they only see problems with this game.

Yet really even with all its warts this game has i really doubt you could find another football game that can compete with this game on the many levels this game has.

meaning make a list of everything this game has (drafts , signings , rules , gameplannning , etc) then find every football game you can find that allows you to play it on the computer like this one does then RANK each one in those lists/categorys and i really doubt there would be a game that would beat this one.

Sure this game might need some work but lets all not act like it is life and death here because this game has the warts it has ( not saying we should accept it if anything saying we should come to terms what this game is in that it is not life or death just a video game)

Yet even with all those warts this game has you have to admit it has gotten better each day , each week and each month where it has gotten harder to point things out that are wrong with this game.

And i really doubt even if you did find another game that might be able to compete with this game where it is light years ahead of this one in that it doesnt have problems .

If i had to guess most likely it would have WWAAYY more problems than this one where probably after you play it in the 1st game or maybe the first week that really you wouldnt even last there as long as you have lasted here because consistent problems.

Further more i think instead of taking the easy way out WHY NOT make all your teams do your work for you to finding things in the game that might make work in this game or might want you to stay??

Like break each team down to where they have selected plays no one uses or plays you rather not use and see what happens.
try to make rules that might not make sense to someone else but makes sense to you.
try different rules/misc options/gameplanning for each team and see if that helps.

Me personally i rather if you didnt quit nor would i want lellow to quit either only because i would miss your dumpster fires comments (btw you guys should take it to another level rating your dumpster fires from a 5 star one to a 1 star one though might want to check how high and how low dumpster fires go on a rating scale )

But if you are determined to leave i hope you wont be a stranger and some time when you have cooled off and come to put everything in the right preseptive you will want to play this game again.

1. It's free (if you want it to be).

2. Occasionally there is good new feature added that actually makes MFN better. It just takes 6 - 12 months. But we need to remember this isn't a job for JDB, it's a hobby. You get what you pay for.

3. Until BTS comes out, this is the best option there is.

4. When all else fails, refer back to #1.

These types of experiments should be confined to the test league (MFN-1).

If you do this in a regular league you are doing a disservice to the rest of the owners in that league.

I'm considering doing this in the test league actually. It's why I joined MFN-1. I figure that can be the league I'll throw darts at the wall.

You know what, you put too much emphasis on winning and the 'perfect game'. Just enjoy it for what it is.

i disagree to the point that really why would selecting different plays for different playbooks be confined to the test league , making rules for your team be confined to the test league and messing with the misc options for different leagues ??

Think about it for playbooks for a minute
I really doubt someone has the same playbook for each team they have
also you have teams that mostly are not going to be like (one might be a passing team , a rushing team , balanced team , etc.) so for someone not to use the playbook their team is geared for which if they are all different would be counter productive .

think about it for rules for a minute
i really doubt people dont have at least 1 rule for each team and it might different for each team they have.
also last i checked every league you can make rules for and put them to use.

think about it for misc options for a minute
it would benefit everyone to try different things in there in different league
like for example
try no 2 point conversion attempts and conversions when your behind or ahead
try every 2 conversion attempt and conversion when your behind or ahead
just trying like every pattern you can do there for like if there is 12 different approaches you could have there it probably would take a long time to do all 12 in the test league

also me personally not saying he has to do it meaning those things i suggested that you want to have restricted to the test league but IF it keeps him from leaving the game by trying many different things then really who is hurting especially when you have a player like setherick who this website benefits from him being here as a player.

i just think gustoon said it best just enjoy it for what it is

This is true. It's a curse of being ultra competitive and working in the tech industry. You want things to work the way you want them to work so that you can win all the things.

We need all you good owners here that don't leave a team because they don't make the playoffs,
the game needs you!

holy macroni you are in the tech industry??

does that mean you make video games for a living or is that a different industry??

anyway there is a easy around that curse of being ultra competitive and you want things working the way you want which is PATIENCE .

I realize your upset now but maybe 6 months from now or longer this game might be LIGHT YEARS ahead from where it is today. and you will glad you stuck it out thru the thick and the thin which you see that fruitation right front of your eyes.
